In 2018, the world remains a dangerous place as Israel destroyed the Iranian underground nuclear weapons facility and America devastated a North Korean nuclear facility. Septuagenarian Russian president Nikita Markova wants a return to the glory days of Stalin’s Soviet Union. He needs to punish the Americans for their affront to his allies without the retaliatory attack.

Markova approves a nuclear attack on the headquarters of the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland while disabling the American “nuclear football” response. Naval Commander Mackenzie “Mack” Bedford and his SEAL Team 10 must sink the Russian freighter carrying the nuclear missiles before it reaches Central American.

The latest Mack Bedford thriller (see The Delta Solution and Diamondhead) is an action-packed tale as time is running out to prevent the disaster. The storyline is at its exciting best when the focus is on the countdown to an anticipated confrontation at sea. On the other hand pontificate interpretation of real events (for instance, the alleged British equivalent of the 47%) detracts from an otherwise entertaining thriller.
